A band saw machine is a tool for cutting various metal materials.

Types of band sawing machine
By structure:
- Horizontal band sawing machine
- Vertical band sawing machine
The horizontal band saw machine can be categorized into two types: the double column band saw machine and the scissor band saw machine.
Similarly, the vertical band saw machine can be divided into two types: the pulley band saw machine and the sliding table band saw machine.
By operation:
- Manual type
- Mechanical automatic type (currently basically eliminated)
- CNC automatic type (mainstream)
The automatic band saw machine can be classified into two types based on its control system: PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) or numerical control, and stroke switch control.
By function:
- Semi-automatic band sawing machine
- Automatic band sawing machine
- CNC band sawing machine
By cutting angle:
- Angle sawing machine (can be sawing angle 0~60 degrees)
- Angleless sawing machine(90 degree vertical cutting)
There are also custom-made band saw machines designed for specific functions, such as the double-head (vertical/horizontal) band saw machine.
Structure and composition
The main components are:
- Base, bed, column, saw beam and transmission mechanism;
- Saw blade guiding device;
- Work clamping device;
- Saw blade tensioning device;
- Feeding mechanism (automatic series);
- Hydraulic transmission system;
- Electrical control system
- Lubrication and cooling system.
Applicable material
The band saw machine is primarily utilized for cutting carbon structural steel, low alloy steel, high alloy steel, special alloy steel, stainless steel, acid-resistant steel, and other metal alloys.
As the technology of saw blades continues to advance, it is now possible to use the band saw machine for cutting other materials such as ordinary glass, monocrystalline silicon, and gemstones.
System functions
Hydraulic drive system
The band saw machine has a hydraulic circuit that consists of components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, fuel tanks, piping, and other auxiliary components. The movement of the saw beam and the clamping of the workpiece are controlled by electrical signals.
The feed speed of the machine can be adjusted to match the sawing needs of different materials through the use of a speed control valve, which allows for stepless regulation of the speed.
Electrical control system
The control system of the band saw machine includes components such as an electrical box, a control box, a junction box, a travel switch, and an electromagnet. This control loop is responsible for controlling the rotation of the saw blade, the lifting and lowering of the saw beam, and the clamping of the workpiece. The control system ensures that the machine operates according to a specified procedure, completing the normal cutting cycle.
Lubrication system
Before operating the band saw machine, it is important to properly lubricate the designated parts of the machine, including the wire brush shaft, worm gear box, active bearing housing, worm bearing, lifting cylinder upper and lower shaft, and movable vise sliding surface clamping screw.
The worm gear and worm in the worm gear box should be lubricated with #30 oil, which should be injected through the oil plug hole located in the upper part of the worm gear box. The oil level should be checked and maintained between the upper and lower limits indicated by the oil mark.
It is recommended to change the oil after one month of use and then again every 3-6 months. The lower part of the worm gear box is equipped with a drain plug for easy oil changes.
Saw blade tensioning mechanism
The saw blade tensioning mechanism is responsible for maintaining the proper tension of the saw blade during use. It is important to control the tension of the saw blade strictly to ensure optimal cutting performance.
Extended optional features:
- Saw blade hydraulic tensioning mechanism
- Sawdust chip conveyor (hydraulic / electric)
- The saw blade cut in the middle
- Three-sided clamping mechanism
- Automatic collecting mechanism
- Automatic feeding mechanism
Hello Shane,
We have a saw that looks like the picture above of which I need a circuit diagram for the control box, because I am busy changing the machine to automatic operation, but without the circuit it is nearly impossible.
It has a Dragon tech sticker and it looks like the model number is H600.
Would you have the circuit diagram for the control box? It would be a great help.
Regards
Frik Brits.
