CNC Cylindrical Grinder Explained

Overview

The CNC cylindrical grinding machine is pre-programmed based on the processing requirements, and the control system sends out numerical instructions to machine cylindrical and conical outer surfaces, primarily for grinding purposes.

CNC Cylindrical Grinder

CNC cylindrical grinding machines typically possess characteristics of versatility, high modularity, precision, rigidity, efficiency, and adaptability. They are suitable for batch processing of various parts related to automobiles, motorcycles, air compressors, bearings, military equipment, aviation, and aerospace, depending on the specific type of CNC cylindrical grinding machine.

Main features

The CNC cylindrical grinding machine comprises a bed, a work table, a grinding wheel frame, a head frame, and a tailstock.

Bed and Work Table:

The bed is made up of large round holes and shark fin-shaped ribs, which after prolonged usage, provides excellent dynamic stiffness and static stiffness.

The work surface can be used to grind conical surfaces on the upper and lower surfaces.

The bed and worktable guide rails adopt a plastic guide rail, providing a small friction coefficient.

The table is directly driven by the servo motor to move the ball screw, ensuring stable and reliable movement.

Grinding Wheel Frame:

The linear speed of the grinding wheel is less than 35m/s, making it highly efficient. The grinding head bearing is a three-grid dynamic bearing with a large wrap angle, ensuring high rotation precision.

The grinding wheel frame movement (X direction) is directly driven by the servo motor and the ball screw, with a minimum resolution of 0.0005 mm.

Head Frame:

The rotation of the headstock dial is driven by the motor frequency conversion speed control, with the dial being rotated at a speed of 40-500r/min steplessly, to adapt to the grinding of workpieces of different diameters, materials, and requirements.

CNC Box and Electric Cabinet:

There is an independent CNC operation box with an LCD display, machine operation button, 1um band compensation switch, manual pulse generator, etc.

End Gauge and Radial Gauge:

When the CNC cylindrical grinding machine has a radial measuring instrument, the measured value is automatically input into the numerical control system, and the numerical control system sends a signal to rotate the X-direction servo motor to drive the ball screw to a given position, thereby achieving stable grinding workpiece size. The dispersion degree of the grinding size of batch workpieces is less than 0.003mm.

Performance structure

The Mechatronics structure layout provides options for both work area protection and overall protection, ensuring easy maintenance and compliance with ergonomic requirements.

The grinding wheel spindle boasts high rotation precision and strong rigidity, with the linear speed of the grinding wheel reaching 60m/s, and 80m/s for the CBN grinding wheel.

The AC servo-ball screw pair drives the two-axis linkage feed, as well as the work table and the grinding wheel frame.

Various diamond dressing devices are available for precise CNC dressing and automatic compensation.

To achieve full closed-loop control of the grinding process, an active measuring device is included.

The numerical control system offers all-round control functions, such as grinding process program changes, workpiece quality management, machine condition monitoring, fault self-diagnosis, and abnormal alarm. The menu interface is user-friendly for easy input.
